First major firmware update for Radsense1

First firmware updates

Since the first release there has been found 3 bugs that are now fixed. These will improve the detection and debug experience. Unless you need these features, there is no need to update. All new devices from now on will include this.

The first bug relates to what happens if the detected person suddenly disappears. If the person detected was moving towards and then away from the sensor (as in a hallway), the detection has been dead solid. If the person walked past the sensor from left to right, the sensor would detect the person when present, but it could occasionally get get stuck in an incorrect mode if the user disappeared too quickly.

The new firmware ensures that when nothing is detected, a counter will time out based on the detection settings (Fast, Medium, Slow) – ensuring that the sensor always will turn off. Another bug fixed is that in the previous release, the LEDs could be “hanging” when changing mode or speed until a change happened. Now they’ll always show the correct mode.

This release also adds a new debug mode via BLE/Bluetooth. The previous release will let you see the distances set for Zones, the detected distance as well as the energy level (low for small pets, high for humans). The new mode will also let you see the current settings of the device for Detection, Led feedback, Filter as well as the amount of unique detections per second and minute.

To update your sensor, follow our instructions for Arduino (best suited for beginners) or PlatformIO (if you prefer a VSCode based workflow).
